“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
A few years ago, I was involved in a rural outreach where we planned to hold a crusade. However, we faced disagreements with the community leadership regarding the venue. During one of our meetings with the elders, a young man walked in, looking for us—the crusade team. The king of the community stood up in shock and asked, “Is this one spreading Jesus with you people?”
We responded, “Yes sir!”
The king exclaimed, “This one? One of our tormentors in this community?”
Right then and there, the king gave his verdict: “Go ahead and hold your crusade. If this one is truly with you, I have no more argument. Seeing he is serving Jesus—I give up.”
That day, we witnessed the power of a changed life.
As the world continues to evolve with technology, it’s also creating barriers—separating us and making it more difficult to share the gospel. And yet, this isn’t entirely new. Jesus reached the Samaritans, dined with tax collectors, and spoke to the Pharisees. Philip was sent to the Ethiopian eunuch, and Apostle Paul was sent to the Gentiles—unbelievers of his time.
Dear believer, evangelism has now become a foremost need—a call for light. God has divinely placed you in specific places and among certain people. If your light shines brightly to just one person, it can lead to the salvation of a family, a community, even a nation.
But what is this effective light in evangelism?
Your light is the fruit of the Spirit—Galatians 5:22–23:
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Your light is also the gifts of the Spirit—1 Corinthians 12:7–11:
Word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, healing, miraculous powers, prophecy, discerning of spirits, speaking in tongues, and interpretation of tongues.
Study them. Pray them into your spirit. Practice them. And you will see souls enter the Kingdom of God with ease.
